The Taranaki Sawmills Secondary schools Rugby Football Union have met during the first term of 2010 to ensure the first games of the season which kicked off on Saturday the 24th of April well organized and without incident.

During the off-season it was recommended that an Under 15 weight restricted grade be introduced in place of the Year 9 competition. The weight limit, after consultation with all schools was set at 63kgs and has instantly proved successful with 7 teams registered alongside the 10 entered in the open section.

There are a similar number of teams competing in the open grade as well as the two teams playing in the club Under 20 grade.
On initial results from the first two games, teams will be moved to ensure competitions are competitive and evenly contested.

The two Premier grade teams will contest the final as a curtain – raiser to the TenderLink Taranaki vs Bay of Plenty, NPC game while the other final contestants will compete at finals day on Saturday the 24th of August.
