Community Rugby
Coaching

Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to the coaching area of the TRFU website.

The TRFU is committed to “coaching the coaches.”  Our aim is your development as a coach as it is a very important part of our future.  If our children are to be truly enriched by their experience in rugby regardless of age, race, status or location we will help to foster quality coaches.  Quality coaches have a huge impact on our community and we would like to encourage you to take the opportunities that the TRFU provides.

“Mama ke te tohu tamariki ki te whatatika pakeke”...It’s better to educate a child, than to try and repair a man.

Just a little something to wet the appetite:

I kept thinking about my dad. He taught me how to pass, catch and kick a rugby ball.
Stuff you can’t get out of a book. He didn’t teach me to love these things. That just happened.
His method was strictly hands on (mine) and hands off (his)
I can still remember like it was yesterday when he said watch the ball and then when you kicked or caught it he would say with a smile “Datta boy”
Just something’s you don’t forget when you get older.
